What does the Licensed Nurse do?
- Provides basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Taking vital signs
- Administering medications
- Preparing patients for exams
- Collecting specimens
- Aiding with procedures
- Education on self-care
- Thoroughly documenting patient information
Responsibilities
- Participates in the planning, coordinating, and documenting of total patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary treatment team
- Accurately reports and records the client’s condition and care, including signs and symptoms which may be indicative of change
- Accurately monitors skin assessments with proper documentation and reporting of changes
- Completes, maintains, and documents accurate and relevant clinical notes
- Ensures timely and accurate clinical documentation for all nursing clinical services provided
- Facilitates appropriate nursing actions in response to administrative directives and a changing healthcare environment
- Ensures all MD orders are followed and documented accordingly during the assigned shift
- Manages medication administration, monitoring, and proper storage of medication and complies with all medication management policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of Texas
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an LVN, experience in behavioral health care preferred
- Certification in Basic Life Support
- Certification in non-violent crisis intervention
