This position is located at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in Tehachapi, Kern County. Main communication for this position will be through email.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF) and the clinical guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), CF, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides a basic and technical level of general nursing care to patients in a variety of correctional health care settings. The LVN ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients in collaboration with the health care team, pursuant to the LVN scope of practice.

The LVN provides technical patient care under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the delegation and clinical direction of the RN, supports daily health care operations, and communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. The LVN addresses the ongoing needs of patients, works with physicians and other health care providers, and promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a basic and technical level of general nursing care to patients in correctional health care settings.
  • Deliver appropriate and timely health care to patients in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Provide technical patient care under valid authorization by a provider’s order and the delegation and clinical direction of the RN.
  • Support the care team in daily health care operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and other members of the health care team.
  • Address the ongoing needs of patients and work with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Pay

This part-time position works 24 hours per week. The monthly part-time salary range is $3,547.80 to $4,009.20.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces the base salary by 3% and provides 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 for full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 20. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.

Schedule

Part-time, 24 hours per week.
