Licensed Veterinary Technician

About the role

The Animal Care Center of Pahrump is expanding its team and seeks experienced Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join the dynamic and supportive environment. The center is adding additional doctor days and is seeking an LVT who is ready to work at the highest level of their training and license.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients under the supervision of licensed veterinarians
• Perform diagnostic tests and record results accurately
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Assist in surgical procedures and monitor patient recovery
• Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care and treatment plans
• Document patient care and treatment in the electronic medical records system
• Participate in continuing education to stay updated on veterinary practices

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Nevada, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire
• 2+ years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
• Preferred degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Exam room skills including obtaining accurate histories, obtaining vitals, brief exams, client education and financial conversations
• Dental experience, including charting, scaling, polishing, dental radiology
• Skilled in IV Catheter placement, venipuncture, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique, pre-operative and post-operative care
• Laboratory skills including in-house lab equipment, ear and skin cytology set-up and interpretation
• Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis

Benefits

• Continuing education allowance (Up to $1000 annually)

Pay

$28.00 - $33.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.

Schedule

• Full-time, Four to Five 8-hour or Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Primarily weekdays with rotating weekend support
• Part-time, flexible scheduling, including weekend coverage
