About the role

As a full-time mental health provider for Spring Health, you will focus on delivering specialized substance use disorders interventions to Spring Health’s member network. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, using interventions such as Motivational Interviewing (MI/MET), CBT for SUD, relapse prevention, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments, evaluating symptom severity, readiness for change, recovery supports, co-occurring mental health conditions, and safety risks to inform individualized treatment planning.
  • Develop person-centered treatment plans using an ASAM-informed framework, including recommendations for appropriate levels of care and referrals when clinically indicated.
  • Support members across all stages of recovery—including those who are actively using substances, ambivalent about change, or returning to use—through compassionate, recovery-oriented care.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members, including medication managers, Specialty Care Navigators, and Peer Recovery Specialists to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Monitor member progress using measurement-based care and data-driven clinical decision making to adjust treatment plans and improve outcomes.
  • Provide mental health counseling sessions, including clinical risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention when appropriate.
  • Complete required internal training, assignments, and attend Spring Health Clinical Team meetings.
  • Follow Spring Health policies and maintain all confidentiality, compliance, and ethical standards.
  • Review monthly projections, client metrics, and clinical outcomes to monitor quality client care.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted license to practice psychotherapy in TX, CA, or PA (no licensed supervision required).
  • 2+ years of post-licensed experience.
  • Ability to work a full 40-hour work week.
  • Comfortable with technology and virtual/telehealth.
  • Able and eager to maintain an average caseload of 30 sessions per week.
  • At least two years of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals with substance use disorders, with SUD treatment representing a meaningful portion of your clinical practice.
  • Trained in evidence-based approaches for SUD treatment, including Motivational Interviewing (MI/MET) and one or more interventions such as CBT for SUD, relapse prevention, contingency management, or other evidence-based addiction treatments.
  • Comfortable working with members across all stages of change, including individuals who are actively using substances, exploring harm reduction goals, or pursuing abstinence-based recovery.
  • Confident in assessing substance use severity, relapse risk, withdrawal risk, recovery support, and the need for higher levels of care.
  • Understand the role of medications for substance use disorders (e.g., MAUD/MOUD) and enjoy collaborating with prescribing clinicians as part of an integrated care team.
  • Comfortable with providing safety planning and intervention during situations where a client might present with higher risks.
  • Committed to quality clinical care and expanding capabilities through data-informed client progress.
  • Enjoy working independently while valuing team support and collaboration with providers and master’s level clinical care navigators.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience providing evidence-based interventions (Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure) to individuals with PTSD.
  • Experience working within an integrated behavioral health, collaborative care, or multidisciplinary treatment model.
  • Training or experience using the ASAM Criteria to inform treatment planning and level-of-care recommendations.
  • Familiarity with measurement-based care tools used in addiction treatment (e.g., Brief Addiction Monitor).
