About the Role
This position oversees and directs psychological services at SCI Mahanoy, serving as both a clinical and administrative leader. The role ensures effective delivery of mental health support and supervises key program functions.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide psychological services staff in clinical and administrative tasks.
- Conduct evaluations and direct the use of diagnostic techniques and treatment approaches.
- Manage and develop psychological programs that support inmate adjustment problems with daily living, social interaction, and work settings.
- Serve as Chairman of the Initial Reception Committee, Suicide Clinical Review Team, Psychiatric Review Team, Mental Health Services Review Committee, and Critical Incident Stress Management Team.
- Develop and integrate mental health policies and ensure adherence to American Correctional Association (ACA) standards.
- Provide expertise to specialized units and staff regarding treatment and case planning.
Requirements
- One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral dysfunction.
Qualifications
- Valid license to practice psychology issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or a valid license from another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Out-of-state licensure must be converted to Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Schedule
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- No telework option available for this position.
