About the role
CoreCivic is seeking Licensed Psychologists to provide the highest quality care in an institutional setting. The successful candidate will perform psychological functions at a pace and level consistent with job requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological screenings and assessments through record reviews and clinical interviews with inmates.
- Collaborate with a mental health team, including psychiatrists, providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to integrate treatment activities and ensure follow-through.
- Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on inmate needs and functioning levels.
- Make regular rounds in segregation or confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.
- Apply psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities for individuals in caseload.
- Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and crisis interventions for inmates in distress.
- Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others to understand behavioral escalations and mental health changes.
- Provide timely clinical guidance during after-hours incidents and emergencies.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state of employment.
- Two years of clinical experience, including one year in a comparable position.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
