Loyal Source is seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses for employment opportunities in El Paso, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Nurses provide care 24 hours per day within their scope of practice, collaborating with a comprehensive primary care team.
• Carry out activities such as intake screening, identifying conditions requiring referral or treatment, administering medications, supporting other providers, and providing treatments like wound care, electrocardiograms, and nebulizer therapy.
• Perform various diagnostic and treatment procedures under the supervision of medical providers, dental providers, behavioral health providers, or registered nurses.
• Administer medications via various routes and collect laboratory specimens for testing.
• Respond to medical emergencies and assist in transferring patients to appropriate levels of care.
• Assist other health care professionals by gathering data, providing care, educating patients, and participating in involuntary care as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate from a Vocational/Practical Nurse program approved by a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
• Minimum of one-year experience in a hospital, medical office, or outpatient clinical setting.
• Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting preferred.

Qualifications

• Maintain a current, full, and unrestricted LVN/LPN license by the state in which the duty station is located, or a compact state that allows practice in the state in which the duty station is located.
• Maintain BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.
• Certified Correctional Health Professional or Certified Corrections Nurse credential preferred.

Schedule

The facility operates 24/7/365; this position requires availability to work day, evening, and night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays. On-call availability is not required.

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking or jogging over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities, and lifting moderately heavy patients or equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients within the scope of practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing, and/or competencies.
• Administers medications as ordered.
• Performs prescreening and intake screening of patients.
• Performs various treatments such as wound care, vital sign checks, electrocardiograms, etc., as ordered by a medical provider, dental provider, behavioral health provider, or registered nurse.
• Collects laboratory specimens and performs point-of-care testing or prepares specimens for laboratory processing.
• Takes appropriate action on lab results received.
• Responds to medical emergencies and renders emergency care to stabilize patients and prevent deterioration, and transfers patients to appropriate levels of care.
• Assists other health care professionals through the gathering of subjective and objective data, provision of aspects of care, educating patients, etc.
• May be required to participate in involuntary, court-ordered care.
