Licensed Practical Nurse - SCI Dallas
About the role
This position delivers nursing care and treatment to inmates with physical or mental health needs, behavioral challenges, or developmental disabilities. The role supports daily functioning, medical assessments, treatments, reporting, and emergency response within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Care Delivery: Check vital signs, administer medications, provide treatments, and reinforce health education
- Clinical Support: Assist clinicians during examinations, screenings, immunizations, and testing procedures
- Emergency Actions: Provide first aid, CPR, AED response, and assessments during medical emergencies
- Record Keeping: Document care activities, update electronic health records, and prepare reports for transfers or release
- Supply Management: Sterilize instruments, maintain inventory, and ensure adequate stock in treatment areas
- Skill Development: Participate in required training and maintain knowledge of policies and procedures
Requirements
Necessary Special Requirements: This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Benefits
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Pay
The starting annual salary for this position is $68,914.00 (before taxes).
Schedule
Full-time employment. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm; 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm; and 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am. Work hours TO BE DETERMINED. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
