About the Role

Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice, working within and to the maximum scope of license.

Requirements

  • LPN license—must be licensed in the state of practice
  • One-year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient to exam room and prepare patient for exam or treatment by recording height, weight, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, additional testing, medical history, allergies, and medication reconciliation
  • Write or call in prescriptions after obtaining surgeon/provider authorization and document in patient’s chart
  • Process insurance referrals via email, fax, or phone; follow up with referral numbers when requested
  • Assist in smooth departmental operations by filling in for other LPNs, clinical assistants, and MOAs as needed; answer phones and perform clerical duties
  • Maintain proficiency in computer equipment and required software programs
  • Ensure exam and procedure rooms are properly supplied, orderly, and clean; order medications or clinical supplies as requested
  • Administer prescribed injections/medications and document them on patient’s chart
  • Route patients for ancillary testing or follow-up appointments (e.g., blood work, x-rays) and enter lab requests as needed
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of medications, including side effects and contraindications
  • Review and discuss pathology results with patients
  • Set up and tear down sterile fields
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of surgical instruments
  • Prepare surgical trays for daily procedures
  • Assist surgeon with operative procedures in the office and operating room as necessary
  • Maintain infection control measures, including proper cleaning of surgical equipment and use of autoclave
  • Perform autoclave sterilization proficiently
  • Perform dressing changes and suture removal
  • Assess and report signs and symptoms of infection to surgeon/provider
  • Follow hepatitis protocols to protect surgeon, patient, and nurse
  • Perform high-level disinfection based on departmental equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate for LPN licensure
  • Attend new employee orientation and mandatory in-services, classes, and training
  • Comply with organizational dress code policy
  • Attend and participate in department meetings, contributing to department/office goals

Pay
