Licensed Practical Nurse- Residential Living Center

About the Role

Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, KS is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Residential Living Center, a long-term care unit. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care, delegate patient care tasks, and supervise other patient care staff. You will coordinate the plan of care for assigned patients and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Additionally, you will perform duties in a clinic setting, including screening walk-in patients, telephone screening, medication and injection education, assisting with procedures, wound care, dressing changes, suctioning, catheter insertion, tracheostomy care, biopsies, diabetic nail care, and other assigned tasks. This position requires the ability to work both in a team atmosphere and autonomously while maintaining excellent customer service and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for patients in a long-term care and clinic setting.
• Coordinate and implement the plan of care for a group of assigned patients.
• Consult with other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) in accordance with demonstrated competencies and scope of practice.
• Perform patient screenings (walk-ins and telephone) using established protocols.
• Provide medication and injection education to patients.
• Assist with medical procedures, wound cleaning, dressing changes, suctioning, catheter insertion, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform biopsies, diabetic nail care, and other duties as assigned.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for patient education, assessment, interpretation, and documentation of patient care and testing.
• Cover Medical Assistant duties as needed.

Requirements

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Kansas (verified through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing - NURSYS).
• Less than 1 year of applicable experience (entry-level candidates are welcome).
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere as well as autonomously.
• Strong communication, organization, and task-oriented skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times.
