About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Residential will provide health services, training, and oversight to the Residential Program.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessments of all new Residential Services participants.
- Make visits to individual homes as needed; correspond with Doctors regarding special concerns and medication changes.
- Conduct home visits for medically fragile clients to ensure compliance.
- Function in an “on-call” capacity for Residential Services.
- Provide training and consultation to all host home providers.
- Provide delegation and oversights for medication administration as well as care of gastrostomy tubes once the training has been received.
- Work with the Residential Services staff to maintain accurate medical files for all Goodwill of Colorado Residential Services clients.
- Review medication charts monthly, obtain Doctor’s orders and communicate with the pharmacy and after-hours access if needed.
- Schedule and interpret medical assessments and create appropriate protocols from assessments.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Colorado State Board.
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience as an LPN, preferably in rehabilitation or occupational health settings is preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the demonstrated ability to address small and large groups.
- Ability to work effectively with varied groups of people including persons with developmental and other disabilities and disadvantages.
- A good working knowledge of medical conditions, terms, and procedures.
- Able to communicate and conduct self with a high level of professionalism, work independently, and demonstrate flexibility, good judgment, and decision-making and organization skills.
- Able to perform a variety of tasks, be detailed oriented, and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation and be committed to keeping confidentiality.
- Must have the ability to drive for company business.
