Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina – Lung Nodule Clinic, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Day shift.
About the role
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) responsible for nursing care of patients under the supervision of the office manager or physician; assists clinic personnel and patients with clinic functions.
Responsibilities
- Participates in assessment of patient
- Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
- Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
- Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
- Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
- Administers medication as ordered by physician
- Facilitates a safe environment
- Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
- Maintains required competencies
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
- Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
- Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
- Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
- Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput, and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Pulmonary experience a plus
- Experience with 6-minute walk-test
- Experience obtaining medication authorizations
- Experience with pending medication refills
- Experience working with payer websites and/or calling over the phone
- Experience working with durable medical equipment (DME) companies to process DME orders
- Experience processing paperwork such as from DME, pharmacy, and insurances
Skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
Physical Requirements
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
