Responsibilities
- Administer and document medications, transcribe provider orders, and perform continuous assessments.
- Gather detailed behavioral and physical health data, including substance‑use history, and document observed behaviors and interventions.
- Educate individuals and families about behavioral health diagnoses and medications during admission and discharge.
- Contribute data for nursing assessments, ongoing re‑assessment, and health history under RN supervision.
- Collaborate with the RN on care plans, reporting blood glucose, CIWA/CINA scores, and breathalyzer results.
- Transcribe provider orders, administer medications, obtain medication consent forms, perform chart checks, act as secondary verifier, and ensure medication reconciliation and storage.
- Draw labs, provide wound care as ordered, and accurately record all medications brought in by individuals.
- Assist Behavioral Health Specialists in managing the milieu and gathering information related to psychopharmacological and physiological needs for youth and adults.
- Provide education on physical health, psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, and psychopharmacology to individuals, families, and care teams.
- Use verbal interventions to defuse dangerous or out‑of‑control behaviors in youth and adult populations.
- Demonstrate therapeutic intervention techniques and understand safety‑related roles and responsibilities.
- Administer emergency medications during seclusion/restraint processes under RN supervision.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of psychotropic medications and their applications.
- Perform any other duties assigned to support the team and individuals in care.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing Program.
- Unrestricted, active LPN license through the Virginia Board of Nursing or multistate licensure privilege.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or a related field.
- Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.
- Mandatory vaccination policy: fully vaccinated with documentation or approved exemption.
- State of Virginia fingerprint clearance.
- Pass Virginia DBHDS background check and Virginia DSS Central Registry search.
- Physical ability to safely perform interventions (standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering, supporting another’s weight), lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lb occasionally, and tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast‑paced environment.
- Comfort working with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior.
- Preferred: Knowledge of EHR systems and QMHP credential.

Pay
- Base hourly rate range in Virginia: $30 – $40 USD.
- Shift differentials: +$2/hr for Monday‑Thursday nights, +$6/hr for Friday‑Sunday nights, +$2/hr for Saturday‑Sunday days.
