NaphCare is hiring PRN LPNs to join our team of medical professionals in Fort Pierce, Florida, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are currently incarcerated in the St. Lucie County Jail. As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care in a controlled environment where security is a top priority.
Responsibilities
- Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, and medication history
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
- Administering medication, including injections and monitoring reactions to meds
- Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
- Observing patient health and mental health status
- Providing emergency first aid
- Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct
- Compliance with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
- Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
