Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN or LVN) - PRN
NaphCare is hiring PRN LPNs to join our team of medical professionals in Land O Lakes, Florida, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Pasco County Detention Center.
About the role
As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is a top priority, you will perform various duties, including physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference for a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. Responsibilities
- Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, and medication history
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
- Administering medication, including injections and monitoring reactions to medications
- Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
- Observing patient health and mental health status
- Providing emergency first aid
- Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct
- Comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
- Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
- Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
