NaphCare is hiring LPNs and LVNs to join our team of medical professionals in Yuma, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Arizona Department of Corrections - Yuma.

Pay

Pay rates range from $32.00 to $34.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience. We offer a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Full-Time employees. Part-Time positions may be available.

About the Role

As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence. This role operates within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. You will perform a variety of duties, including physical assessments, medication administration, chronic illness management, and emergency response. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply—we provide training in correctional healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Performing patient assessments, including interviewing patients about current health problems and medication history
  • Taking vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections and monitoring reactions
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record (TechCare)
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Delivering patient education and discharge/release planning

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Active state certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Adherence to professional integrity, Code of Conduct, and compliance with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds)
  • Bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift
