Position Summary
Our Department embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, which are essential for providing specialized care to patients. This department provides clinical care for patients from Neonatal to Geriatric patients.
About the Role
Essential Functions
- Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administer medication.
- Aids RN in developing the plan of care.
- Aids patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Maintains patient records and communicates patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- Documents patient care given.
- Serves as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
- Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
Non-Essential Functions
Attends clinic meetings.
Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiates appropriate action.
Completes safety instructional programs.
Assists other team members when time permits.

Education
Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
License
Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of VA and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
Certifications
BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
Knowledge
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
