Licensed Practical Nurse-LPN - General Surgery Clinic - FT - Day Shift

Responsibilities

• Gathers & documents information about a patient’s vitals, to include height, weight, blood pressure, O2 sat, & pain level immediately notifying provider when a patient’s vitals are critical.
• Gathers information about patient’s allergies & medications, & reconciles the medication list at each encounter, according to provider preference.
• Gathers & documents information about a patient’s history including past medical, social, & surgical history at each encounter, according to provider preference.
• Performs EKG, waived lab testing, breathing treatments, & spirometry competently & documents in the EMR appropriately.
• Able to perform medication calculations accurately & administers injections according to the Five Rights of Medication Administration. Appropriately documents medication administration in the EMR, to include lot number, NDC number, and Mfg unit of measure.

Qualifications

• Current LPN license in the State of Oklahoma required.
• BLS required.
• Experience preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Typing and basic computer skills required.
• Ability to organize/prioritize work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff.
