The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care under the supervision of an RN or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in the clinical setting, within the scope of practice dictated by the State Boards of Nursing. The LPN must be detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to handle physically demanding tasks. As an essential member of the healthcare team, the LPN offers patient care and supports higher-level nurses and physicians in delivering comprehensive medical services.

Unit Description

The Sentara Princess Anne Hospital provides exceptional emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week with expert staff, cutting-edge technology, and specialty services, including:

  • Board-certified emergency physicians
  • Emergency nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support, trauma, and pediatric certifications
  • Pediatric-trained team to treat children of all ages
  • Overnight observation rooms for children and a separate family-friendly waiting area
  • Seamless connection to an easily accessible radiology department
  • Landing pad for Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance to ensure quicker treatment in emergency situations

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State LPN License in good standing (REQUIRED)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (REQUIRED)
  • LPN Certificate/Diploma (REQUIRED)
  • LPN experience in a hospital setting (REQUIRED)
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred
