About the Role
Administers care that is individualized and consistent with the plan of care and with standards of care/practice. Reports to RN any change in patient condition, administers medications, and functions independently within area of practice. Demonstrates clinical skills specific to the work area, including completing unit-specific skills and competencies.
- Demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development in the delivery of care.
- Incorporates patient/family/significant other teaching into routine care under the direction of the RN.
- Adjusts work routine to meet changing unit and patient conditions.
- Fosters team-building spirit by assisting new staff members' integration into the team.
- Contributes to the plan of care and its implementation.
- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Fosters positive public relations with patients, families, and staff.
Duties include medication administration, obtaining vital signs, drawing blood, obtaining EKGs, hands-on nursing care, and some heavy lifting.
Requirements
- Meets NYS Civil Service appointment requirements for the title of T&R Center Licensed Practical Nurse.
- LPN licensure and registration as outlined by the NYS Education Department.
- Current CPR certification.
- 1 year of post-licensure nursing experience preferred.
Schedule
Day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
