Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

About the role

As an experienced practitioner, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is accountable for providing high-quality, individualized, goal-directed care for all patients and their families through the nursing process. Responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and prepare them for physicians.
• Take vital signs, record medical history/symptoms, and ensure medical charts/lab test results are available and complete.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
• Communicate follow-up appointments, ancillary and/or pre-operative testing, and scheduling needs to patients and office coordinators.
• Provide education and information to patients and family members.
• Consult with other specialties and disciplines as appropriate to meet all healthcare needs of patients.
• Use organizational skills to effectively complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Clean and stock all patient examination rooms; clean and prepare instruments for procedures; maintain a list of needed medical supplies.
• Complete paperwork such as ordering lab tests, x-rays, school/work notes, and FMLA.
• Counsel patients concerning lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using appropriate psychosocial communication.
• Understand and enforce standard healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Perform office procedures including all general administrative duties.
• Document all medical interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as an LPN.
• Athena experience (preferred).
• Women's health experience (preferred).
• Current CPR certification.
• An Associate's or bachelor’s degree, or higher.
• Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to delivering excellent, passionate, innovative care.
