We are looking for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for the following shifts:
- Weekends: 11pm-7am and 3pm-11pm
- Full-time: 7am-3pm, Monday-Friday
Responsibilities
- Supervise HHAs, CNAs, and the facility staff.
- Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and retirement residents if needed.
- Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to Director of Wellness (DOW) / Delegating R.N. / Physician.
- Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders in an accurate, safe manner; observe effectiveness and report to physician if needed.
- Inform DOW when supplies and equipment are needed.
- Order medication from pharmacy when needed.
- Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure all nursing care is given properly, safely, and of the utmost quality.
- Administer emergency first aid.
- Ensure daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties performed by nurses and HHAs, as outlined by the Director of Wellness, are carried out.
- Complete nursing documentation, e.g., vital signs, weights, nurse’s notes, medication, kardex, etc.
- Recognize, interpret, and report conditions to the DOW/RN/Executive Director as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness of nurse’s station, med room, and cart.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff.
- Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
- Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
- Provide guidance for nursing assistants.
- Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and personnel.
- Perform related work as required per assignment.
- Understand duties and responsibilities are carried out for both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility.
Note: The above duties include many of the tasks for an LPN. At times, it may be necessary to perform other duties as requested by the Director of Wellness.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state.
- Work experience in the geriatric field.
- Ability to communicate well and in writing.
- Ability to deal with visitors, staff, and residents in a courteous manner.
- Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to work under pressure at times.
- Must be able to perform good grooming practices, maintain personal hygiene, and be punctual and regular in attendance.
- Must have a warm, friendly, congenial personality and present a professional appearance.
- Must possess an empathetic attitude towards seniors.
- Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed.
- CPR certified, or obtained within 90 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
- May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
- May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
