Licensed Practical Nurse Lead - Ambulatory

The Licensed Practical Nurse Lead provides non‑clinical tasks, direct patient care, ongoing education, reinforcement of care plans, and general support in an ambulatory setting under the direction of the patient’s physician or licensed medical practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Record and relay patient information, symptoms, and concerns to the medical provider or registered nurse for triage assessment and care planning.
• Assist patients with therapeutic regimens and reinforce established plans of care and age‑appropriate interventions.
• Provide patient/family education based on identified health‑education needs using approved materials or written instructions.
• Administer tasks, treatments, and medications in accordance with validated competencies.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and medical providers; convey information accurately and respond to concerns.
• Document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Share responsibilities, support teammates, organize and prioritize daily work assignments, and recognize time‑sensitive issues.
• Practice within the boundaries of Virginia nursing regulations, engage in professional development, and contribute to practice‑guiding resources such as policies, procedures, and protocols.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinic setting; leadership, training, and process‑improvement experience preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding.

Skills

• AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
• Ability to successfully complete general and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Leadership development (preferred).

Physical Demands

Medium to heavy physical demand: constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping, and the ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lb (use safe‑handling equipment for loads over 35 lb). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and legible handwriting required.

Pay

The base compensation range for this role is $24.15 – $34.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. This range does not include incentive compensation such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, or other incentives.
