General Summary

Affords assistance to physicians in examinations and procedures to meet the healthcare needs of patients with cardiac conditions. Facilitates patient care and customer service objectives by coordinating patient flow, lab work, and nurse visits.

Principal Job Functions

  • Committed to mission, vision, and core values.
  • Performs nursing and patient care activities to ensure patient physical and psychological well-being.
  • Screens patients for relevant information to update the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Room patients, gather patient history and vital signs, perform medication reconciliation, and document in the EHR.
  • Registers and updates patient information in the EHR and charts promptly and accurately.
  • Supports providers by coordinating patient care and follow-up activities.
  • Maintains exam rooms clean and stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assists physicians during examinations, performs electrocardiograms, dispenses medication, observes patient reactions, and documents findings.
  • Provides education to patients and families regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, post-treatment instructions, nutrition, and wellness.
  • Ensures appropriateness of tests and procedures for billing purposes.
  • Handles pre-authorizations, release of information requests, FMLA certifications, and other administrative tasks.
  • Answers and routes incoming patient-related phone calls, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Manages work hours, supplies, and clinical costs within fiscal responsibility.
  • Attends meetings and participates on committees as assigned.
  • May assist providers at both the main site and outreach clinics.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations.
  • Participates in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience required, preferably in a clinic setting.
