Licensed Practical Nurse - Ambulatory Care - Orthopedics Clinic - No Prior Ortho Experience Required

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care individualized to the patient’s needs
• Collects and records relevant patient health data accurately
• Evaluates health data to identify patient problems
• Implements and documents specified interventions
• Identifies deviations from expected patient outcomes
• Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards
• Performs and documents Point of Care (POC) testing and quality control in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures
• Maintains and documents testing reagents/supplies and equipment according to established laboratory procedures
• Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient’s autonomy, dignity and rights
• Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity
• Assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures
• Maintains current licensure, certification, and competencies
• Provides proof of current BLS validation to supervisor
• Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy
• Provides to supervisor evidence of completion all required annual training and competency validation
• Practices within the New York State-defined LPN scope of practice 100% of the time
• Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his/her area of practice
• May be required to make home visits
• Functions as part of the interdisciplinary health care team

Requirements

• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program
• Current NYS LPN License and registration as a Practical Nurse or a valid interim permit
• BLS certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire

Physical Requirements

• Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects
• Occasional climbing, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), fit testing
• Frequent balancing, typing/clerical/dexterity, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, walking

Hazards

• Occasional burns, chemical, electrical, mechanical, radiation/radiant energy
• Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure

Working Conditions

• Occasional noise, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors

Travel

• Occasional travel - the job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis

Pay

• Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards
• Pay Range: $24.74/Hr. – $37.10/Hr.
