Licensed Practical Nurse - Adult Primary Care Clinic Livingston

About the role

LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. Assists physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Observes, records and reports (to physician) patient's condition and reaction to drugs and/or treatments.
• Instructs patient/family regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and health/wellness issues.
• Performs selected nursing duties, including documenting patient history, vital signs, immunizations and allergies.
• Prepares, stocks and cleans exam room and maintains supplies and equipment for treatment.
• Coordinates patient care by assisting physician with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.
• Schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals, and provides information and instructions to patients.
• Assists with preparing exam room and assisting physician during examinations, treatments and tests of patients.
• Ensures quality care by administering prescribed medications/treatments in accordance with nursing standards, performing phlebotomy and EKGs, and assisting with flex sigmoidoscopies.
• Adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures, safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
• Utilizes equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources prudently and efficiently to ensure efficient departmental operations and high-quality health care services.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement programs to foster the provision of quality health care services by the department and hospital.
• Ensures compassionate, understanding, and respectful care for all patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN school.
• Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
• Current Louisiana State license as LPN and BLS certification.
