Location: Chattanooga, TN – Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute, Hamilton County. Two positions available. A criminal background check is required.

About the Role

Under general supervision, this lead-level Licensed Practical Nurse position involves performing licensed practical nursing duties of average difficulty, including leading and supervising technical nursing staff. Assignments may include days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends in a hospital, clinic, institution, or home setting.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the application of nursing techniques required in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Advises subordinate staff on policies and procedures.
  • Performs BLS (Basic Life Support), CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and other emergency responses.
  • Follows prescribed health care plans or protocols, takes patient vital signs, and administers medication.
  • Educates patients and caregivers on maintaining optimal health, self-care (e.g., dressing changes, hygiene, adaptive equipment), and activities of daily living.
  • Documents assessments, care provided, education, orders followed, medical interventions, test results, and drug administration/effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with staff to develop and discuss patients' comprehensive health plans.
  • Provides education to employees and others.
  • Maintains an adequate, current, and secure inventory of health care supplies and reports discrepancies.
  • Ensures medical equipment and work areas are clean and serviceable; reports maintenance issues or repairs.
  • Communicates with internal and external entities.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Experience equivalent to two years of licensed practical nursing.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.
  • For driving-related positions: A valid driver’s license with no DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations in the past five years.

Pay

Monthly: $3,229.00 – $4,852.00
Annual: $38,748.00 – $58,224.00

Schedule

Full-time. May include days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
