Location: Columbia, TN – Department of Health, Maury County. Full-time position requiring a criminal background check.

Pay

$2,896.00 – $4,331.00 monthly ($34,752.00 – $51,972.00 annually).

Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a practical nurse with the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.

Driver record must show no DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations in the past five years.

About the Role

Under general supervision, this working-level position provides licensed practical nursing health care support in hospitals, clinics, institutions, or homes. Employees may be assigned to work days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Perform BLS, CPR, and other emergency responses.
  • Follow prescribed health care plans or protocols, take vital signs, and administer medication.
  • Educate patients/caregivers on maintaining optimal health, including self-care techniques such as dressing changes, self-examinations, and activities of daily living (e.g., hygiene).
  • Demonstrate the use of adaptive equipment/devices.
  • Document assessments, care, education provided, orders followed, medical interventions, completed tests/results, and drug administration/effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify patient/client needs and discuss comprehensive health plans.
  • Maintain a secure, current inventory of health care supplies and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure medical equipment and work areas are clean and serviceable; report maintenance issues or repairs.
  • Provide education to employees and others.
  • Communicate with internal and external entities.
