Key Duties
- Provide comprehensive eye care including diagnosis and management of visual and ocular pathologies
- Prescribe corrective lenses, vision training, and therapeutic medications (topical and oral)
- Deliver emergency eye care for trauma and acute conditions
- Utilize lab and radiology services to evaluate ophthalmologic conditions
- Cook up eye care with other physicians when systemic disease is present
- Refer and coordinate care for patients requiring services outside the Service Unit
- Consult with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and medical staff for complex cases
- Supervise Eye Clinic personnel and precept optometry students as needed
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution
- Current, unrestricted optometry license in any U.S. state (diagnostic & therapeutic privileges required)
- Active DEA license
- Minimum 1 year recent optometry experience
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Proficient in EHR/EMR and basic computer skills
Hours
Mon–Fri, excluding Federal Holidays (Tour of duty set by Supervisor; 40 hrs/week)
