About the role

The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical services on the Behavioral Health Unit for both adolescents and adults.
  • Develop and coordinate groups and activities.
  • Provide individual and group treatment based upon treatment plan and unit needs.
  • Ensure treatment interventions are appropriate, meeting the patient’s individual functional status and up to date with current discipline practices.
  • Create a caring and compassionate environment through core values of respect, teamwork, and communication.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy from a college with an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • National Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification and State of Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license required.
  • Trained in PMT and de-escalation techniques, and certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous Behavioral Health experience working with adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and substance abuse population in an acute care setting preferred.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Ability to function effectively and, at times, independently in an environment where multi-tasking is necessary.
  • Maintain active certification and complete all continuing education requirements.
