Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical services on the Behavioral Health Unit for both adolescents and adults.
- Develop and coordinate groups and activities.
- Provide individual and group treatment based upon treatment plan and unit needs.
- Ensure treatment interventions are appropriate, meeting the patient’s individual functional status and up to date with current discipline practices.
- Create a caring and compassionate environment through core values of respect, teamwork, and communication.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy from a college with an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- National Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification and State of Connecticut Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license required.
- Trained in PMT and de-escalation techniques, and certified within 6 months of hire.
- Previous Behavioral Health experience working with adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and substance abuse population in an acute care setting preferred.
Qualifications
- Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written command of the English language and communication skills.
- Flexible approach.
- Ability to function effectively and, at times, independently in an environment where multi-tasking is necessary.
- Maintain active certification and complete all continuing education requirements.
