About the Role

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient-centered, occupation-based treatment plans for individuals of all ages, collaborating closely with occupational therapists, patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and adjust treatment plans based on patient response, communicating with and documenting discussions with evaluating therapists.
  • Implement treatment activities considering patients' physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers using effective teaching methods.
  • Complete therapeutic interventions, including range of motion measurements and training in activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Document all activities accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate progress to referring providers.
  • Collaborate with team members, serve as a resource for conflict resolution, and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain compliance through ongoing education and adhere to program requirements.

Requirements

  • Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Ability to adapt activities to individual patient needs and limitations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal.
  • Ability to document clearly and professionally.
  • Knowledge of treatment modalities such as ultrasound and fluidotherapy.
  • Collaborative team player committed to quality care.
