About the role
We are seeking a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT / OTR/L) to join our team. This role blends traditional occupational therapy practice with outdoor, equine-assisted, and nature-based approaches.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services in an outpatient, nature-based setting.
- Incorporate equine assisted services and movement-based interventions into treatment sessions, when appropriate.
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, emotional regulation, and functional independence.
- Collaborate with horse handlers and team members to maintain a safe and supportive therapy environment.
- Build strong relationships with participants and families through compassionate, client-centered care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Support the mission of Strides of Strength by fostering growth, confidence, and resilience.
Qualifications
- License Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) in the state of South Carolina.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience with equine assisted services or comfort around horses preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to complete equine-assisted or hippotherapy-related training (provided).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for working outdoors and in a nontraditional, participant-centered environment.
