Job Description

• Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and meet individual student needs
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests
• Use various instructional techniques and media consistent with best practices and specific content knowledge
• Implement KIPP Memphis philosophy and instructional goals
• Use diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs, intervene, and accelerate academic progress
• Maintain classroom and school safety
• Keep accurate, complete, and correct records as required
• Support administrative policies and rules regarding student life and conduct
• Be available for education-related purposes outside of the instructional day
• Engage in professional development opportunities

Requirements

• Active Tennessee state licensure and certification - endorsement matching subject area & grade band
• Commitment to working with educationally underserved students
• Commitment to the design and development of the school
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• At least two years of teaching experience
• Master's in Education / Teaching / Content area
• Experience/strength in content area
• Highly Qualified status
• Experience teaching in an urban school and/or charter network
