Middle School Science Teacher

About the role

The Langley School, a Preschool-8 independent school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a dynamic middle school science teacher to join us for the 2026-2027 academic year. Grounded in a deep respect for childhood, The Langley School offers a warm, welcoming community and an exceptional academic program that uniquely combines inquiry-based learning and social-emotional learning for students in preschool through eighth grade.

Responsibilities

• Teach science in one grade in middle school
• Design and deliver instruction that reflects our inquiry-based instructional model
• Provide targeted and timely feedback on student learning
• Adapt instruction based on student progress
• Participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to:
• Being an advisor
• Teaching electives
• Chaperoning day and overnight trips
• Supervision of break and/or lunch
• Other duties as assigned by the Middle School division head

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced degree preferred
• A minimum of three years prior experience teaching in a school setting
