Position Overview

The Licensed Medical Technologist will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Collecting and handling blood and urine samples and performing sample processing.
  • Runnin calibrations, quality control samples, proficiency testing samples, and patient samples on laboratory analyzers.
  • Reviewing and interpreting lab results and entering them into electronic medical record system.
  • Performing scheduled analyzer maintenance.

Additional Duties

  • Will be trained to perform vision testing, ECG, and taking vitals (blood pressure, pulse, O2 sat, temperature).
  • Will be scheduled to take a NIOSH-approved Spirometry training course to become proficient in performing spirometry (pulmonary function) testing.
  • Will be scheduled to take a CAOHC-approved Audiometry course to become certified in performing audiograms (hearing tests).

Qualifications

  • AS or higher degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medical Technologist (also known as Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist).
  • Must be proficient in collecting blood samples (venipuncture).
