Medical Technologist

About the role

The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing routine cytogenetic procedures and special cytogenetic procedures including complex chromosome analysis and FISH. They are also expected to troubleshoot issues independently or with guidance.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate trouble-shooting procedures independently or by instruction
• Evaluate modifications for improvement of current methods
• Participate in the Laboratory’s Performance Improvement Plan
• Record keeping: patient worksheets, quality control records, procedure modification trials
• Aid in staff training and preparation for inspections

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in cytogenetic technology, biology, or a related science

Qualifications

• Competent in performing routine and special cytogenetic procedures
• Experience with cytogenetic technologies such as FISH and ISCN
• Ability to troubleshoot and improve laboratory methods

$40.79 - $52.03 per hour
