Description

Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program is a fast‑paced crisis intervention program that provides a full range of observation and outpatient psychiatric services for all ages. We are a State‑designated Community Health Center.

What you will do

• Crisis intervention and triage patients to the appropriate setting: waiting areas – voluntary or involuntary, children/family or emergency department evaluations.
• Care for and provide treatment modalities to outpatient and extended observation clients.
• Provide intensive casework, assessment, intervention, and referral services to patients and/or their families, emphasizing patients’ social needs.
• Exercise initiative and independent judgment based upon professional knowledge, experience, and hospital policy.
• Collaborate with social work, psychiatrists, clinical affiliates, and unit support staff.
• Liaise with other services along the continuum of care and community support services.
• Cross‑train with Mobile Crisis Outreach (MCO).

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure

• Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
• Pass the exam offered by the ASWB.
• Licensure as an LMSW through the State of New York.
• Participation in orientation, continuing education, and ongoing skill updates related to specific areas of expertise.

Special Equipment, Skills or Other Requirements

• Good understanding of behavioral health crisis intervention.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, medical team, and other professionals within the hospital and community.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.

Work Environment and Hazards

Clinical setting. Exposure Class I.

Physical Demands

Light work: May work long and irregular hours in an emotionally stressful environment.

Pay Range

$32.97 – $47.50 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary based on location.
