About the role

Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program is a fast-paced crisis intervention program that provides a full range of observation and outpatient psychiatric services for all ages. We are a State-designated Community Health Center. The schedule includes working a weekend and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Crisis intervention and triage patients to the appropriate setting: waiting areas – voluntary or involuntary, children/family or emergency department evaluations.
  • Care for and provide treatment modalities to outpatient and extended observation clients.
  • Provide intensive casework, assessment, intervention, and referral services to patients and/or their families.
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgement based upon professional knowledge, experience, and hospital policy.
  • Collaborate with social work, psychiatrists, clinical affiliates, and unit support staff in a team-based approach.
  • Serve as a liaison to other services along the continuum of care and community support services.
  • Cross-train with Mobile Crisis Outreach (MCO).

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Passing exam offered by ASWB and licensure as a LMSW through the State of New York.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Good understanding of behavioral health crisis intervention.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, medical teams, and community professionals.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Participates in orientation, continuing education, and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Work Environment

  • Clinical setting with potential exposure to Class I hazards.
  • Light physical demands; may work long and irregular hours in an emotionally stressful environment.
  • Frequent contact with all services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, and regulatory/professional agencies.

Pay

Pay Range: $32.97 - $47.50 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
