Responsibilities

Are you ready to start your Social Work career with New York State? Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide professional social work services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. As an LCSW at Central New York Psychiatric Center, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team independently providing clinical social work services. This position is located at the Bedford Hills MHU on the grounds of Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Westchester County.

  • Diagnosing emotional and behavior disorders
  • Providing psychotherapy
  • Conducting biopsychosocial assessments
  • Developing assessment-based treatment plans

Requirements

Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed and currently registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State. Candidates appointed through NY HELPS prior to June 2025 will be appointed in temporary status, changing to non‑competitive permanent in June 2025. Alternatively, candidates within State Service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Background checks will be required. To maintain employment you must keep your LCSW license and registration current and cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal or State Medicaid/Medicare exclusion lists (or other Federal/Federally assisted programs). If appointed you may need to become an enrolled Medicare provider, obtain and provide an NPI from NPPES, and actively participate so services can be billed through Medicare and Medicaid; loss of billing eligibility may result in termination.

Pay

  • Shift differential pay: 7% for evening and weekend day shifts; 10% for night shifts
  • Geographic Pay Differential: $18,000
  • Downstate Adjustment: $4,000
