With 204-beds, it is the third largest of the four Duke Health hospitals and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional counseling services to patients and their families that are enrolled in programs which include but are not limited to Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Weight Management, Stress Management, Healthy Escapes and Executive Health.
- Counsel and teach behavior change, stress management, mindful eating sessions, smoking cessation classes and other program classes, which assist the participants in achieving, prescribed objectives.
- Administer, interpret and assess the results of related program administered assessment tests.
- Aid in the development of mind/body programming into wellness programs, i.e. cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, weight management.
- Provide education to patients and families related to issues that impact patient care.
- Conduct lectures and participate in community outreach activities.
- Identify concerns and make referrals to other specialists when needed.
- Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Provide guidance and coaching to staff members working with clients as needed.
- Facilitate problem solving between staff and/or clients.
Requirements
- Education: Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.
- Experience: None required beyond education/training requirement.
