Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist

About the Role

The Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist facilitates Substance Use Intensive Outpatient (SAIOP) services for clients seeking treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. This position provides counseling in both group and individual settings, along with supportive services in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to foster client recovery.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic interviews to assess clients' mental health symptoms, substance use history, and social background, determining appropriate DSM-5 diagnoses and informing treatment plans.
• Create individualized treatment plans reflecting clients' needs, strengths, and recovery goals.
• Work with patients across a range of co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnoses and lived experiences.
• Provide daily individual and group counseling using the Matrix Model of Intensive Outpatient Treatment.
• Maintain open communication and accessibility to integrate mental health care within the clinic setting and collaborate with the patient’s treatment team.
• Initiate client-specific interventions, including individual, family counseling, and crisis interventions as needed.
• Support clients in building internal locus of control, understanding diagnoses, identifying triggers, and developing recovery plans.
• Collaborate with providers and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
• Document all patient interactions, referrals, and clinical notes within 72 hours in compliance with CMS and regulatory standards.
• Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and treatment rights in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling or Social Work.
• Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) license required.
• 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of substance use diagnoses and evidence-based treatment approaches.

Physical Requirements

• Seeing: Ability to read written and printed materials and use office equipment (computer, fax, copier).
• Hearing: Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and others, including fine sound discrimination.
• Sitting: Ability to sit for the majority of the work shift.
• Standing/Walking/Mobility: Ability to stand intermittently, walk on hard surfaces, and move between clinical areas.
• Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for office duties.
