The City of Essex Junction Recreation and Parks Department (EJRP) is seeking a Licensed Childcare Site Coordinator to help lead our licensed childcare programs, including Rec Kids afterschool programming, vacation camps, and summer day camps. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children feel supported, respected, and encouraged to grow. The Site Coordinator helps connect the school day with afterschool and camp programming by aligning expectations, building strong relationships with children and families, and supporting consistency across programs. Pay/Wages $22.06 to $23.80 based on experienced Benefits (this Is Not a Comprehensive List Of Benefits) 3 weeks paid vacation to start. 14 paid holidays 18 sick days per year Retirement benefits include a pension plan (VMERS C) or deferred compensation plan (VMERS DC), and the ability to contribute to a 457, Traditional IRA or ROTH Generous health insurance benefit in which the City pays 94% of the premium for medical and the first 80% of the deductible. After that, you are only responsible for the next 20%, which is not more than $600 for single plans and no more than $1200 for all other plans for covered medical expenses. 100% employer paid for dental and vision 100% employer paid short-term disability and life insurance Qualified Employer for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program What You’ll Do The Licensed Childcare Site Coordinator will help plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities, support positive behavior management, maintain required childcare records, communicate with families, and ensure compliance with State and Federal licensing requirements. The position also supervises childcare staff, supports summer camp operations, assists with student support during the school day, and works closely with school staff, families, and Recreation and Parks leadership. Key responsibilities include: Planning and providing engaging activities for children in licensed childcare programsSupporting a safe, healthy, inclusive, and respectful program environmentCommunicating regularly with parents and guardiansMaintaining confidential child files, incident reports, licensing paperwork, and related recordsSupervising and supporting childcare staff and summer camp counselorsAssisting with vacation camps and summer day camp operationsCollaborating with school staff to support consistency for children and familiesParticipating in trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunitiesDriving City vehicles as needed Qualifications The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, along with experience working with children, families, and staff in a school, recreation, childcare, or youth services setting. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, coworkers, school staff, and community partners. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Elementary Education, Special Education, or a related field is preferred, along with at least two years of experience in youth service program management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
