About the role
Under general supervision, provide Athletic Training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician and in accordance with State of Michigan Athletic Training Practice Act. This is a relief position supporting Muskegon High School contracted schools with 0 weekly hours scheduled.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Master’s or previously equivalent professional education training program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Athletic Training.
- State of Michigan Athletic Trainer License or eligible.
Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate and clinically diagnose patient’s functional abilities/disabilities including range of motion, strength, and coordination through athletic training assessment and testing procedures.
- Establish functional baseline to be used throughout treatment as a gauge of progress and physical improvements.
- Incorporate physicians' and other healthcare professionals’ information and recommendations into evaluation and treatment, when appropriate.
- Independently provide care procedures used in acute and/or emergency situations, independent of setting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive healthcare programs for patients, athletes, and community members.
- Utilize patient history and appropriate physical examination procedures to determine the patient’s impairments, diagnosis, level of function, and disposition.
