About the role

The incumbent will provide technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public, including registering patrons, charging/discharging materials, processing overdues and reserves.

Supports interlibrary loans and reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials.

Performs technical services support in various functions such as basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.

May perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.

Requirements

Requires Direct Deposit and Social Security Card.

Must meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.

A one-year probationary period may be required.

Satisfactorily complete of employment verification (E-Verify) check.

May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Must possess one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, or two years of education above high school, or a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements.

Candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred":

  • Completed Library Science college coursework (transcripts required)
  • Experience in MS 365 Suite of Tools (Teams/SharePoint)
