Job Summary
A Library Technician plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the school library and facilitating a conducive learning environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Create flex-access scheduling for staff and students.
- Maintain current circulation records.
- Troubleshoot several computer systems, such as databases, Internet access, word processor software, and library workstation computers.
- Aid in teaching research and study skills to students including internet safety and digital citizenship.
- Rearrange books according to filing systems.
- Maintain accurate material checkout records (multimedia).
- Aid staff and students with computer training and usage.
- Aid in monitoring internet access by students and staff to ensure appropriate use.
- Aid with other duties to ensure student safety.
- Work with academic and administrative staff in obtaining media materials.
- Coordinate programs related to literacy.
- Coordinate/Facilitate local book fairs.
- Establish, maintain, and support positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders.
- Utilize various communication channels, including social media, to enhance connectivity and engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Support and comply with the Rock Point Community School philosophy, mission, and vision statement.
- Have four (4) hours Prevention of Sexual Harassment training annually.
- Have two (2) hours of SCAN procedures and reporting annually.
- Be in compliance and maintain confidentiality according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act).
Qualifications
- AA degree or 60 college credit hours.
- PREFERRED: Experience in an educational setting.
- Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with the RPCS Policy and Procedures, and other reporting policies and procedures of the tribe, state, and federal government.
- Must have minimal knowledge of Dine language, culture, history, traditions, and its people for compliance in all aspects of educational programs.
- Must have current CPR & First Aid Certification and basic safety training.
- Must have a valid government issued driver’s license or identification card.
- Must have Federal, Arizona, and Navajo Nation background clearance.
