Library Paraprofessional-Youth-Needville Library
About the role
The Library Paraprofessional-Youth position at Fort Bend County focuses on interacting with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs. This role involves explaining the use of reference sources, searching catalog and databases, and assisting with collection development and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Explains the use of reference sources such as bibliographic indexes or computer assisted reference tools.
- Sets up and arranges displays and bibliographies of books and other library materials.
- Aids and/or instructs other employees with their duties.
- Performs database maintenance.
- Develops, performs, and/or manages youth services programming.
- Plans and performs school visits and other outreach activities.
- Catalogs and classifies library materials such as books, audiovisual materials, etc.
- Creates records, changes holdings, using an automated system.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- One year job-related experience.
- Relevant experience working with children in groups is preferred.
- Computer skills.
- Good verbal and written communication including interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
- Organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Requires evening and weekend work.

Pay
SALARY RANGE: $18.31 - $22.9 per hour based on qualifications
