Library Associate - Teen Services

About the role

The Library Associate at the South Boulevard Branch is responsible for delivering high-quality library services to teens, including leading age-appropriate programs, managing the teen volunteer program, and representing the library in the community.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain community partnerships
• Manage Teen Volunteers
• Prepare monthly program reports and statistics
• Provide research assistance to customers
• Utilize integrated library systems software
• Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
• Maintain library’s collection of materials including repairs, shelving, and marketing
• Aid with volunteer management
• Promote and market library programs
• Create and maintain attractive and appropriate bulletin boards and displays
• Provide electronic resource assistance and basic computer skills training for library users
• Assist with circulation responsibilities including staffing a busy information desk, serving customers of all ages

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience
• Previous experience with branch operations, opening/closing a facility and cash handling procedures preferred
• Strong technology and computer skills
• Full-time position, benefit eligible including a minimum of one evening shift per week and a rotating weekend schedule

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bilingual - Spanish communication skills preferred
• Experience working with preteens and teens
• Experience working with minority populations is a plus
• Culturally aware and sensitive to diverse cultures and populations

Skills

• Knowledge of Alpha-numeric sorting systems
• Knowledge of various library systems
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong technology adeptness
• Excellent time management skills with attention to detail

The South Boulevard Library offers benefits eligible positions, including a minimum of one evening shift per week and a rotating weekend schedule.

Pay

Hiring Range: $20.00 - $25.00
