About the role
Under the supervision of the Circulation Manager, performs the full scope of clerical and para-professional responsibilities in the operation of the circulation department. This is a part-time position.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical and para-professional duties in the circulation department
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
- Perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using units of American money, weight, volume, and distance
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables
- Use database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three months related experience and/or training
Skills
- Language skills: reading, writing, and speaking effectively
- Basic mathematical skills
- Reasoning ability for simple instructions and standardized situations
- Computer skills: database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Physical Requirements
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear
- Frequently stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally climb or balance
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Schedule
The normal work schedule is 19 hours per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. Employees are expected to be present and on time for each scheduled shift. Partial absence, arriving late, or leaving early may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Time off may be approved in accordance with applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergencies.
