Library Assistant III

About the role

The Iowa State University Library is seeking qualified candidates for two full-time positions: an Evening Library Assistant III and a Weekend/Evening Library Assistant III. Both positions are part of the Access Services team and are responsible for providing circulation and limited reference services to the ISU community.

Responsibilities

• Serving as the primary supervisor on duty during evening and/or weekend library hours.
• Responsible for the opening and/or closing duties of Parks Library and conducting safety rounds throughout the building.
• Providing circulation and reference services to the ISU community.
• Ensuring a safe environment within the library.
• Training and functionally overseeing student employees, assisting with their daily tasks.
• Providing excellent customer service at the main service point and throughout the building.

Requirements

• Three years of library work experience, or a combination of related work experience, undergraduate education, and/or post-high school library training totaling four years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in providing quality customer service and resolving customer concerns.
• Experience in communicating and administering organizational policies, especially in the areas of safety and building use.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, similar tools, and the ability to learn and use new technologies.
• Previous functional supervision.

• Evening Library Assistant III: Tuesday: 3:00pm – 2:30am
  Wednesday: 3:00pm – 2:30am
  Thursday: 3:00pm – 2:30am
  Friday: 11:00am – 8:30pm
• Weekend/Evening Library Assistant III: Saturday: 9:30am – 8:30pm
  Sunday: 9:30am – 8:30pm
  Monday: 9:30am – 8:30pm
  Tuesday: 9:30am – 8:30pm
