About the role
The candidate will promote ACPL’s values and mission while following established policies and procedures. The purpose of this position is to serve the informational, reference, and reading needs of library patrons of all ages at ACPL and will be expected to perform any and all routine tasks necessary to the operation of the library system.
Responsibilities
- Promote ACPL’s values and mission.
- Follow and enforce established library policies and procedures.
- Maintain library collections.
- Staff all service desks.
- Develop, promote, and present programs for adults.
- Troubleshoot minor technology-related issues.
- Manage the appearance of the library and the condition of shelves.
- Provide reference interactions, reader advisory, and assist with technology use.
- Create and maintain displays.
- Handle new library card applications.
- Manage patron accounts and book returns.
- Answer phones and route calls.
- Participate in adult programming committees.
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Support interlibrary loan requests.
Qualifications
- Aceessory degree required.
- One year of customer service experience required.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication is required.
- Previous library experience preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
- Prior experience with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, basic internet searching, and social media is required.
- Ability to learn library technology is required.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Push/pull loaded book carts and access materials on high and low shelves.
- Effectively communicate with patrons and staff in a busy environment.
